About

Macon St. Hilaire

Born in Williamsburg, Virginia, Macon Linton St. Hilaire received a BA in Studio Art, with a minor in Latin from Austin Peay State University in May 2016. The recipient of a Presidential Research Scholar Grant, she recently traveled to the United Kingdom, to conduct research on Medieval English Embroidery, Opus Anglicanum. As a non-traditional degree-seeking student her work has developed into a multi-disciplinary practice influenced by place, family, history, and craft. Currently, her work explores the distillation of second-hand experience during her spouse’s multiple military deployments through the usage of large-scale drawings, embroidery, and sound pieces. She works on curatorial projects and collection care as a gallery assistant to the permanent art collection at Austin Peay State University. Macon has accepted a position at the University of Glasgow in the MLitt Technical Art History program commencing this September.
